Symptoms of Adult ADHD

Maybe you've wondered if you might have adult ADHD, but the symptoms you read about online don't quite match your actual life.

I suspect that is true for many of us adults who consider getting an ADHD diagnosis, and I think the reason is that the DSM-V (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, 5th edition) doesn't really describe ADHD from the perspective of those of us who actually have it. The DSM was written by people who don't have ADHD, and so they are describing what it *looks like* from an outside perspective, and not what it *feels like* for those of us with ADHD brains. Inevitably, there's going to be a mismatch.

In this video on my YouTube channel ADHD Woman, ( Go ahead, click through and subscribe to my channel! If you click the little bell next to the red “subscribe” button, you will get notifications every time I upload a new video!), I try to share just a few of the symptoms I experience that I now understand are related to my ADHD, but they aren't described in ways I could understand in the DSM. This tripped me up for a long time and prevented me from getting a diagnosis earlier. My hope is that at the end of this video, you may have a better sense of what ADHD feels like from the inside—from the inside of me at least!—and maybe it will help you decide whether or not you want to pursue a diagnosis for yourself.
